Why Adopt a Rescued Springer?

Springers seem to create an exceptional bond with their owners. Maybe it's because of their intelligence and love of people or, maybe it's their adaptability and their desire to please. By adopting a SRECC Springer you have the opportunity to directly help a homeless animal by giving it a 'forever' home. Rescue dogs are 'experienced' in that they are often well on their way to being a well- mannered member of your family; quite often the dogs know some basic commands and are usually already house broken.

SRECC ensures that each and every one of their foster dogs has been evaluated by a veterinarian. The medical needs of each dog have been looked after to the very best of our knowledge; vaccinations, spays and neuters completed. A SRECC Springer having lived in a foster home for a minimum of two weeks has had a chance to show it's caregiver his or her individual quirks and traits and as such, we usually have a fairly good understanding of the dog's behavior and needs.

Please consider that this process is an adoption, NOT a purchase. We adopt our Springers out to the best possible home for the dog. Adoptions are not an a first come first serve basis. We reserve the right to deny an application for the better interests of the dog & the potential family. SRECC will never knowingly place a dog in a home that is inappropriate for the dogs needs & behaviors nor will we knowingly place a dog that has a bite history without fully disclosing the incident or a dog with a serious diagnosed health problem. We take the adoption of our Springers very seriously. We want  you to suceed with your new family member and because of this we screen our adoptive families very carefully.

SRECC's Adoption Fees and Policy

Our adoption fees are as follows:

*Puppies (under one year old)- $350

Adult Springer (one-nine years old)- $250

**Senior Springers (10 and up)- $150

*In the rare event a pup is too young to be spayed or neutered, the fee is $350 with $100 reimbursement upon SRECC's receipt of the Certificate of Spay or Neuter signed by the veterinarian.
** Senior Springers can qualify for our 'Seniors for Seniors' program. Please contact SRECC for more details about this program.

At the time an adoption takes place, a legally binding contract is signed by the adopter on behalf of SRECC and the Springer. This contract states the dog you are adopting deserves to be part of your family and every day life. If your new Springer isn’t who you hoped he or she would be, you must return the dog to us in the first 30 days in the same condition the dog was in on the date of adoption and the dog may not be sold, given or transferred to any outside persons, rescues or shelters. The adoption fee will be held for a period of 30 days. In the event you are forced to return the  adopted dog for incompatibility reasons, the fee will be returned to you or, at your discretion can be applied toward the adoption of a more suitable dog, or made as a donation to SRECC rescue.

How to Start the Adoption Process

To be considered for the adoption of one of our Springers, you should do the following:

- Fill out & submit our Online Adoption Application

  or

- Print and complete the adoption application found here:

Adoption Application.pdf

- Mail the completed adoption application to:
Springer Rescue of Eastern & Central Canada
4 Brushwood Crescent,
Barrie, ON L4N 7G5

You should expect to be contacted by a SRECC volunteer member to confirm receipt of your application. At this time, we will conduct a telephone interview and arrange for a home visit. SRECC's adoption application is admittedly fairly lengthy and detailed. We appreciate your cooperation, honesty and patience while fully completing the application as this helps to ensure best possible placement for the Springer and your family.
