MAC!

  

"To start Mac’s story I need to thank the very special people who intervened on his behalf. Life could not have been to pleasant for Mac, as happens for those who are not understood, given the patience that youth requires, or loved for who they are. Although Mac can’t completely understand, I know he would be most grateful to SRECC volunteers and Bonnie Masson who orchestrated his release from a less than favourable environment, and to Mike Joll who spent hours driving him from his original home to meet me as a foster Mom. I admit to a propensity for failing fostering, as evidenced by our family of six delightful Springer Spaniels, all of who are rescues. Thank you Springer Rescue for sending three of them my way.

Mac has learned a lot since the beginning of June. His older brother Wellie took an instant liking to him and took him under his wing. Mac learned to run in to his kennel at night because he knew that there was a reward awaiting him. He now sleeps out of his kennel because he has calmed down and sleeps peacefully. I have started Mac’s education with some obedience and agility basics. We are starting formal obedience class after Labour Day. He loves to run – the first time that I let him off the leash it was a joy when he discovered what it felt like to open up and run full speed. He can spend hours chasing swallows around the yard yelping with delight. And he lies on a dog bed beside me on my days working in my home office. We joke that his being inside your skin is not close enough. Mac is absolutely wonderful with our 2 cats, and is a gentleman with visiting “dognitaries”. He loves to learn, and seems to love being part of his new family. Now to get some meat on those bones! Thanks Springer rescue for allowing Mac to come in to our lives."
