What We Do...
When a Springer comes into the care of SRECC, they do so for a number of reasons. Whether the dog has been abandoned, found itself in a shelter or is being surrendered by it's owners perhaps due to a move, illness, death, or financial crisis, SRECC will strive to help and re-home the Springer. Adoption referral assistance is also available to those owners who can no longer care for their Springers and must give them up for adoption.
When SRECC is contacted to assist a Springer requiring assistance, firstly the Springer is assessed by one of our dedicated & knowledgeable volunteer members. Then the Springer is placed in the most suitable foster home where he/she is safe, happy and further assessed. These foster homes provide housing, medical care, rehabilitation, exercise, and love to homeless dogs. Putting these "unwanted" dogs into a temporary loving environment allows them time to heal their broken spirits & wounds while gaining confidence in their relationships with others before they go on to complete their waiting ‘forever’ families.
Both the foster care homes and potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure the Springer is always placed in a good, healthy & loving environment. SRECC volunteers also conduct a telephone interview and a home visit with potential adopters to ensure the Springer is being carefully matched with a suitable family environment, a home where the Springer is sure to thrive.
